Murphy's Law?
My husband has been in Iraq for 9 months with 3 more to go. He came home on leave in July. What a wonderful time we had. How hard it was when he left to go back knowing we had another 4 1/2 months of time apart looming ahead.
He found out he was going to come back to the U.S. for a military conference soon so I planned on meeting him there. This is where Murphy's law comes in. Late August I broke my leg in two places by stepping into a big hole in the yard which was so thoughtfully dug by the dogs. It was a bad break and it was touch and go for awhile if I would need surgery or not. Fortunately I escaped surgery but had a cast and now a big walking boot so I'm still on crutches. There was no way I could know if I was going to meet my husband or not so I didn't buy the airline ticket.
I still have hopes that I might be off the crutches by then and be able to fly and drive. But last night I checked airfares and they are around $1000!
Not only that but many have two or three plane changes.
That is ridiculous! I may or may not feel up to traveling by then. Paying that kind of money AND trusting some airline person to wheel me to two connecting flights just doesn't feel right.
If my daughter drove me, it would be a 29 hour round trip. If I took the bus, it would be a 56 hour round trip. How frustrating. He will be so close but I can't seem to get there.
