Fortunate

My husband and I are fortunate.
Certainly not because we are apart now and for the next 8 months.
But while we are apart we have the ability to communicate by telephone, email or VOIP on the computer. Not all soldiers have that option.

The only drawback is the window of time available to us is 10pm-12pm my time. It's a good thing I am a night owl!
That time is his morning and the best time to talk. When it is his off time in the evening, I am at work and do not have the VOIP cabability.

This war's soliders are much better off than those from the WWII or Viet Nam era. Handwritten letters and occasional phone calls were about it for them as far as communicating with loved ones. I think they had email but few had access to it.

Not that this is all that important to anyone reading this..I'm just trying to keep focused on the silver linings.

Staying in constant contact really does helps during this time apart. One of my biggest fears(other than his safety) was that we would grow apart. I don't think that will happen. At least I hope not. Still we are living in two totally different worlds with two different sets of priorities. I can see how this could easily be damaging to a relationship without this kind of communication.
